Is there a module for citation and reference management in Drupal? I have never seen such a thing in any CMS yet. Would be cool!

Not quite sure why one would want it but it should be trivial. The most effort (again not difficult and speaking from experience since I've long ago implemented this into our fielded fulltext search product) would be to handle import from BibTeX--- and there I suspect the labour would be really just handling the character markup like \"a etc.
