Enter nothing into Link field and it puts site's main URL in

Hello,

I was trying out the Link field module with the latest dev version of CCK. If I don't put anything in either the title or URL fields, it automatically puts in the site's main URL. ie: http://www.example.com.

I think I set the URL field to be required, but can't it just make you go back to the form to fill it in instead of automatically filling it in? The URL field is required and doesn't have a "required" asterick like other required fields do, so users may miss it and that'll result in many nodes having a somewhat irrelevant URL.
