I'm almost finished writing my bounty module. It will enable the community to collaboratively fund new features such as this.

I intend to have a player plugin system, so the admin can choose which player to use.

Is there anyone who has a preference for FLV player over Flowplayer?

Is there really justification for postponing Flowplayer support to devise a plugin system which is probably quite a bit more complicated than just switching from one player to another?

#3 - I am coming around to that way of thinking. Are there any other GPL players that compete with Flowplayer?

In my opinion ,it will be better to change just to Flowplayer rather than having the option to use more than one player. AFAIK, there's no GPL player at that level right now. Maybe jw, but is not GPL, the api is changing eventually... not fun.

There's always the option of a plugin system, if sometime in the future another good player arise...

I've done a fair amount of searching on this topic recently and found no competitor to flowplayer. I ended up using it on my corporate educational training site. I have no need for transcoding atm, so I'm not using the open package module now, but I plan to in the future and IMO flowplayer is the way to go-- besides being GPL it's an awesome app and very nicely configurable. All I had to do was embed it into my screencast content type (i used contemplate for this) with their flashembed.js script and I had slick embedded video, themed to my color scheme, in minutes.

The wijering player is nice, but i like to keep my drupal sites completely GPL whenever possible.

Although it's only for Drupal 6 at the moment, I just created the Flowplayer module. It's a small standalone API module that gives you Flowplayer support through a simple function call. It will probably need a backport to Drupal 5.

I think a choice of players would be great, especially for those that have already bought the JW player and are using some of its supplied plugins like Adtonomy.

Are there any in video pre-roll ad managers available for Blue Droplet?
