Having problems installing new modules on our site.

I recently installed Drupal on my website via Godaddy.com and the installation was completed in about 5 minutes. I am now having problems installing new modules on my Drupal website. I tried using the FTP client provided by GoDaddy and I uploaded the module's folder into the "modules" folder of my site's directory.
The module is still not showing up when I go to enable it though.
Did you upload new modules
Did you upload new modules to public_html/modules folder or public_html/sites/all/modules folder.
The second is the correct method. I think you have copied the module to wrong folder. Check again.
Some times there are no folder in sites/all directory so you need to create modules and themes in that directory.
Module folder for adding new modules and themes folder for new themes.
