Not sure if this right place to post this but any help much appreciated - I am trying to make a front page with panels and when I disable the regions I'd like the panels to span the page but currently they remain fixed in the center - i.e the space for the sidebars are still there despite the fact I have disabled regions?

I posted a very similar problem just a few hours ahead of you in the issues queue (http://drupal.org/node/244820). Can you tell me what theme it is you are using? I'm wondering whether some themes work better than others with the disable blocks/regions function, and if so, why?

This is not really a Panels issue. Your theme has to support the logic to span the main content area over empty sidebar columns.
