edward.peters commentedYES, I too am fairly desperate for a D6 version as I have a migration to do straight into 6. Thanks so much for this great module. Any idea when a D6 version might be ready. Do you need help?

encho commentedMe too, subscribing.
Fayna commentedSubscribing also so I can plan ahead. :)
Edit: Sorry, just found this: http://drupal.org/node/207738.
Robrecht Jacques commentedI have started the port which will be a rewrite because a lot of new features of D6 makes this module easier (such as form handling).
Estimated time of arrival of the first beta: sunday may 4th.

pbindagorge commentedMe, too. Subscribing! Any update on the ETA?

edward.peters commented@alpritt: your link is to a version of Node Import which does work ok, for the most part, but was a straightforward port. Robrecht is doing a proper rewrite for D6, taking advantage of new D6 features, which should be available soon.

Moonshine commentedsubscribe.. Anything we can do to help with the port Robrecht? I'll take a portion. :)

avadhutp commentedI have written a PHP script that handles node, taxonomy, forums, and user migration from 5.x to 6.x. Here is the link: http://drupal.org/node/308187
Comment #34
Shai commentedFor those folks subscribing to this...
I recommend you all try the D6 port of this module that was written back in January.
http://drupal.org/node/207738
That node's title is: "Port node_import to Drupal 6 (Event Import)"
Don't let the "Event Import" fool you. It appears to be a straight port of the node_import module. I used it to import 200 nodes from a spreadsheet to a D6 cck content-type that had about 15 custom fields. I had NO problems. I can only report my own experience. It doesn't present itself as "done". But it is certainly worth a try for folks waiting. I don't know why it hasn't been committed as a dev version.
I'm often hesitant about installing dev versions let alone "drafts" that haven't even been committed. However, I think this module falls into a different category. This is not a module that runs your site in any way. The site never accesses the code unless you tell it to import something. If it doesn't work, you should be able to see right away -- and as long as you've backed up your database in advance of trying to import -- I see very little risk in experimenting with draft versions of this module.
best,
Shai

bsherwood commentedJust an idea, maybe the Import/Export API module could be better suited for a 6.x upgrade.
http://drupal.org/project/importexportapi
Comment #39
frank ralf commentedHello,
I think this is a good idea. After all, there only need to be on import/export API for Drupal if it is universal enough (i.e. using CSV or XML format).
However, the module is not actively maintained at the moment:
http://drupal.org/project/importexportapi
So someone has to take over the module.
Kind regards,
Frank

allie mickaThis is a duplicate of http://drupal.org/node/207738 , which is much older AND has a patch.
summit commentedHi,
Any progress on the drupal 6 port please? I think the 1.9 version is great for porting, right?
Perhaps first combining all already available patches on the jan-2008 6 version? And than starting this as 6.dev and working from that one further?
Greetings,
Martijn
