Contact form confusion?!

marconey - April 10, 2008 - 17:51

Hi all,

I hope someone can un-confuse me (!). I am assuming that if I enable my personal contact form in My Account section of my account then OTHER users when THEY log in to their account would be able to see a Contact tab in THEIR My Account section whereby THEY can choose to send me an email. Is this correct? If not please clarify.

I am the Admin, I have enabled all of my users' Personal Contact Forms. I have give these users (who are part of a group) Access User Profiles permission. I am expecting the above scenario to occur (or something similar). Am I missing something?

On a slightly different note, I did play around with enabling SITEWIDE contact form. That works as intended. (In that case I have turn on the Conact menu, I understand that). But the functionality I am looking for is this: Any user when logged in, should be able to go to a page CHOOSE a single individual or a group (I know the latter can be done by the sitewide contact form/Categories) and send an email.

Thanks much!
Kenneth

Another note

When I go to my own account's My account page, I see a Contact tab. Clicking on it brings me to my own contact form. Why would I want to contact myself! Hey come to think of it, I could have fun sending emails to myself to see how I like my own writing :)

Please enlighten me!

Kenneth

every user has a contact form so others can send THEM an e-mail without knowing their e-mail address.

If someone wants to send YOU an e-mail, they need to go to YOUR account page and select YOUR contact tab. The contact tab/form on Bob's account page is used to send Bob a message.

The sitewide contact form allows anyone to send YOU (admin) an e-mail without having to traverse to your account page. Hope that clarifies.

Very close to enlightenment!

- How can another user go to MY contact tab without logging into MY account? In other words, how do I get to ANOTHER user's Contact tab?
I have been playing around a lot with Drupal and have customized/changed quite a bit of the default Navigation menu but could it be possible that I have unknowingly removed a menu link that leads to Other people's contact tab? I know this might be a simple topic for you (I am sure it will be to me too after I realize how simple it was) but for now I am in a state of confusion!

Kenneth.

Several ways

There are several ways in which you can go to an account-page (and on that the contact-page) of a user.

  • You can show a list of all your users (I think you need the views-module for that) and click the user you want to contact.
  • You can click on a user's name on a post and be sent to his/her account-page.
  • You can supply a search-box where you can search for users.
