I would like to be able to control the display of parent nodes on a child based on views. The reverse functionality is already there - under display settings I can select a view to be used to display children of a node type.
1) In Views would be a filter- Relativity: Child Node. This would filter the appropriate parents for display.
2) In Site configuration > Node relativity > Display settings, under "Display options" for each node type would be, for each parent type, a drop down box to choose which view to use. In terms of what is already there, this dropdown box would probably be labeled - "Rendering option for parent nodes of type X:"
Is it possible to simply modify the existing functionality that does this for children, just reversing the logic?
In my case, bands and djs are children of events. This is done because it is the event's responsibility to make full documentation, so it must have the right to attach the children. On the band's page, I want to show the name of the event, the date, possibly the location. Plus, the event should not be displayed on the band page after the event has occurred. This is all easy to do with a View for parent nodes. I believe that there are many other cases where this functionality would be very useful.
