Hi,

I am a web designer with knowledge of HTML, CSS and a little java. I am designing a site for bands in my area. On this sight, they would be able to create accounts and depending on what level of account they create, they will be able to upload pictures, post gig schedules and post band descriptions. I basically have now idea how to make something like this function on the web, and am curious is anyone know if Drupal would be able to handle something like that. Let me know if you need any more info to answer my question.

where in the heck can you download Drupal 6.0 or even 5.0?? Drupal website only allows for downloading Drupal 6.2 which is apparently a maintenance package for the 6.0 program. thanks.

Drupal 6.2 is the latest stable release of Drupal. It fixes some bugs found in 6.1, which in turn fixed bugs found in 6.0. It's not an add-on for 6.0 or anything like that. It's the full package.

If you find you need to use Drupal 5 because you want to use a module that isn't updated for Drupal 6 yet, the version you want is Drupal 5.7.

There is going to be a learning curve in learning Drupal, however the answer to your question is yes, Drupal can do what you describe. I have different levels of roles on my site and have assigned different levels of privilegdes to those roles. They may post on my events calendar. I have heard that all Sony's artists are now on Drupal sites.

There are a lot of tutorials available on the web (videos and text) and there are also books you can buy. This is a good place to start. http://drupal.org/handbooks
