CCK asset field not applying imagecache preset

For a particular CCK Content Type when we add a CCK asset field and upload an image the option to apply an imagecache preset is not provided. However on the same CCK content type page when we add an image using "Insert Assets" Filter the Asset module provides the option of applying an imagecache preset.
