But your translation seems to be based on an old version of the CAPTCHA module (e.g. "captcha" should be in all caps "CAPTCHA").

Your work was not useless however, you can port the old translated string to an updated po file, as described in http://drupal.org/node/237350#comment-779360

I already did this with your original po file (see attachment).
This process is not perfect however, so you should check for wrong/fuzzy translations

please check the new po file and post a corrected one

Closing issues for 5.x releases, which is officially unsupported now.
