Wow - just been on a journey through the themes and I have to say - why are they all so so BLUE - the most depressing colour of the rainbow.
And if they're not blue, they're GREY which is almost worse. At least blue is a colour!
OK - there's one or two GREEN sites but Green is only one step less melancholy than blue.
Where are all the yellow, red and orange and pink themes - the happy end of the spectrum? OR are Drupal themers all terminally depressive.
and hey - i KNOW you can change colours and all but that's hard work - especially recolouring all the jpgs that make up backgrounds and buttons and so on.
It's enough to make you stick with Garland and it's easily re-colourable ways! Can anyone show me some happy themes?

Ever been to Belgium?
Ever been to Belgium?
Seriously - if you filter on the 6.x themes there really is quite a bit of variety I think. The original drupal theme was blue so most of the ones shipped in variations on that. For most of the site I work with I make my own theme.

Every single time I've been
Every single time I've been to Belgium (three times) - I've (personally) had a ball. It's not THAT depressing!
Blue is one of those colours
Blue is one of those colours that seem to be neutral, and most people will find it appealing.
Yeah - it is dull - and I think an important thing to consider here is that drupal folk are more techy than creative. And I'd also suggest that many web designers out there are self taught it guys, or people interested in computers. There's a very rare minority of talented graphic artists out there who I would suggest are truly talented.
I've tried to find a few pages either related to themes that pro's have done or starting points for themes that aren't just full of the blues

I really think it comes down to the skill of the designer, and their ability to use colour. I know I for one suffer from the blues.
Hey - I'd love to see some of your stuff.
Ha! I haven't done any
Ha! I haven't done any stuff. Not yet anyways - just about know enough html to get a site active and working on css famliarity so stay tuned.
thanks for links though - I'll check em out.
update - have now done some
update - have now done some 'work' which really invovled changing colours for the slamander theme (mainly blue with a bit of yellow) to mainly orange.
Changing hex numbers is the extent of my skill so far. Now I want to try spacing and padding and fonts and all that wild jazz!
here it is so far: www.wankerparty.com
Nice orange - like warm marmalade or vitamin C satsumas plus vitamin D sunshine.
Not yer frigid old BLUE!
Now instead of a sober
Now instead of a sober windows is so blue look, it looks like someone tipped a load of rhubarb & custard all over it.
(btw, I see that the wanker towel has a few bluish looking stripes, I also feel you've been reading too much of Viz).
thanks for looking I can't
thanks for looking
I can't work out whether you like it or not! Wankerparty should not be blue but I would welcome any suggestions. I've not done this before.
Rhubarb's not orange!
"Do I like it" - well,
"Do I like it" - well, being an old tosser (sometimes, everyone has their special moments), I had a good laugh looking at your site, even though I did feel the rhubarb colour should have been there & well rhubarb is funky & cool whereas orange is too Costa Del Sol.
:)
Thanks Steve. I'm gonna
Thanks Steve.
I'm gonna stick with orange. Rhubarb is cooler probably but Wankerparty is pretty much in Costa del Sol territory. Not the most sophisticated venture on today's modern internet!
Made a few changes - mainly bigger font-sizes which makes it even more Daily Star/Costa Brava.
Ole!
Okay, it does seem more
Okay, it does seem more logical. Personally I'd avoid calling the colour 'orange' & go for 'Burnt Cheese' as it sounds more wankish.
