It does not make much sense to subscribe to node type 'organic group' (this is possible now, for the person creating the 'organic group') since that node will have comments disabled. The possibility to subscribe to this node type only confuses users creating groups.

It would be very nice if it was possible to define which node types users could subscribe to, also when creating them. This could be done through the content configure page, the same way it is now possible to disable comments, and attachments if you have the upload.module enabled.

It is already possible to exempt certain vocabularies, this should also be possible for certain types of nodes.

Partially implemented. Content types can now be pre-set to not allow subscriptions. Not yet enabled at the node level.
