Unfortunately, the patch applies to a 4.6 revision of the module that does not match the latest 4.6 revision currently in CVS. So the plan is to apply the patches by hand and take into account the changes that affect the patch while doing so.

To make use of the update, just replace your current 4.6 "node_privacy_byrole.module" with the latest copy, either from the tarball (http://drupal.org/files/projects/node_privacy_byrole-4.6.0.tar.gz, 24 hours after this comment) or (if you don't like tarballs or can't wait 24 hours) directly from the CVS repository (http://cvs.drupal.org/viewcvs/drupal/contributions/modules/node_privacy_...).
