Heya,
So I need to enable or install a WYSIWYG editor for Drupal content, can anyone please help me? I've tried installing TinyMCE and XStandard to no avail. They say their enabled but nothing shows in the input areas.
Thanks!

Did you follow the
Did you follow the instructions in the Read Me text. These modules cannot be installed by just uploading to the modules folder. They also include downloading the TinyMCE package from their site.

Well I definitely read
Well I definitely read through the instructions. And I didn't just drop it in the modules directory, I enabled it in drupal and configured it's settings. So to the best of my knowledge I followed them, but clearly I'm missing something.
I'm going to give it another shot today, but I guess I'm wondering if anyone has some input on how to install it that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

you need the editor libraries (not included in Drupal module)
You need to download the editor's packages separately and place them in the proper directory of the module (see the README file that comes with the module.
I like TinyMCE but had some problems with it.
I am having "kindasorta" wysiwyg by installing fckeditor for formatting (but not so good at wys) then also installing bueditor just to use it's preview function.
Kindasorta works.

Hmm... well I just removed all the TinyMCE installation that I did previously. Then I tried it again but still no luck. Here's what I'm doing, maybe you can spot what I'm doing wrong?
1. Downloaded the module.
2. Dropped it in ./modules
3. Downloaded TinyMCE.
4. After unzipping it I dropped it into ./modules/tinymce like the readme says
5. I enable it in Drupal.
6. I give admin or logged in folks access
7. Test it by going to a page and clicking edit. Still no editor or anything that suggests TinyMCE is running... ?
Thanks!

you need to configure tinyMCE and create a tinyMCE role
For the tinyMCE editor, you need to go to its admin page and create a "role" (not to be confused with a user "role")
There are many other options to configure
It won't work until you do this
I remember I had issues with tinyMCE in Drupal 6.x and that's why I switched to fckeditor (which I don't love either) but I don't remember exactly what the tinyMCE issues were... I liked using it in Drupal 4.7, last time I rolled it out...

Okay how do I access the
Okay how do I access the admin page for it? Can you give me a path by chance?
Thanks!

something like...
Well, I uninstalled tinyMCE but I think it was in the regular site config area admin/settings , something like admin/settings/tinyMCE
Are you sure you're using the correct module version?
I recommend trying fckeditor, which is similar to tinyMCE, or for something very stripped down and simple (and not requiring external plug ins) nicEdit or bueditor.
I also tried out XStandard, don't remember exactly why I stopped using it (gee, I should keep sitenotes, shouldn't I, I sound senile)

Well, I'm not sure what I
Well, I'm not sure what I did wrong, but only about 50% of the modules I install seem to work right. XStandard, TinyMCE, FCK Editor, Event, WebCal all show they're installed, and even after following the instructions - I think - they still give various errors. I think my problem is that I don't know how to install modules properly.
Oh well, thanks for your guys' input for now. I'll post anything that I figure out.
Thanks!
