I've set up a summary view of a content type which lists all of the terms in a vocabulary and the number of child nodes in it. All of the term names are linked, and the obvious (or useful) place to me for this link to go would be a list of the nodes of that content type with that taxonomy term. Instead, they go to a URL which is "/mysummarypage/14" where 14 is an example of the taxonomy term number of the term listed, and there's a big list of terms with no links and no summary info, eg if it was vegetables:

Asparagus
Asparagus
Asparagus
Asparagus
Beetroot
Asparagus
Asparagus

If that's not too confusing, cause it kinda is for me, is there an easy way of changing the linking system os that it does something more useful? Sorry if I'm missing something, I am spoilt rotten by drupal and don't really know what's going on.

Sorry, unfortunately this support request is way too specific. Please have a look at the issue queue - Views maintainers are buried already. You might want to try to get further support at http://drupal.org/support. Additionally, the answer to your question might be covered in the handbooks at http://drupal.org/handbook/modules/views already.
If you were able to solve this issue on your own in the meantime, you might want to add the involved steps to this closed issue, so other users searching for a similar solution might find it.

OK, the views maintainers are busy, that's fine, but how is the support request too specific? I just wanted to know if there was any way to modify the summary view links. If the answer is "not without writing custom code" then that is also OK, I just wanted to know if it's an obvious answer.

It's just at the moment it looks like there is no point in using the summary view at all, and since it had been included in the main release, perhaps I was missing something....?
