I thought module moderate would allow grouping of moderators per category/taxonomy/term.

yes - in a sense - if you are using taxonomy-based access control. Then moderators can only moderate posts they can see.

really? that's great.
i tried using moder8 module but i get no luck. i created different types of content, that is to organize my terms easily. my test publisher can't see moderation queue but when i give him an administer nodes he can see all and make actions to all contents in moderation queue. i believe taxonomy access for drupal 6 is not yet available. should i downgrade?

I have to give moderators access to "administer nodes" in order for them to see and do anything with items in the moderation queue. Otherwise they can see the queue but they can't see any of the items in it. Is there a way to limit which categories or (content) types certain moderators can see. I'd really prefer not to give broad "administer nodes" access to moderators.
