In a single hierarchical vocabulary term list, the terms appear in order from top to bottom as determined by the weight of each parent term, then the weight of each child term underneath each parent, etc. It would be great as well as intuitive if this order would be maintained in any term lists printed on node pages etc. It would also overcome the limitation of having only a finite number of weights to assign to terms.

Considering that no new features will be added to D5 and that no one has shown any interest in this issue for a long time, I am closing this issue ticket. If you think we still need this feature request, please reopen it and move it to the D8 issue queue.
