Node reference duplicate & the zero

I am using node reference cck to create event content and such and display it on pages,, the problem is when I translate a page this action will create a duplicate node reference..

Artist Node (basic node in English => translated to French)
Events Node (Artist name is used in there as a node reference to add Events to Artist node)

therefor translating an Artist node will result in an extra node reference which sucks and it doesn't serve a purpose...

how can we avoid that.. I lot of people on drupal asked this question but its never answered so this makes me feel stupid as it might be a very simple solution
