When the subscriptions UI is enabled in node/comment forms and a user has autosubscribe enabled, the following message under the subscription checkboxes in the form:
'You will be automatically subscribed to all your posts. Uncheck the autosubscribe option in your user account settings to change this.'
I've attached a screenshot of this text.
I find this confusing because:
- The phrasing 'You will be' suggests that autosubscribe has not been active until this point, when it has.
- The term 'automatically' suggests that the user has no opportunity to change whether they are subscribed to the node. The checkboxes in the UI allow the user to modify these default settings, however.
The message for this situation should communicate that:
- The autosubscribe setting is (and has been) active. That the autosubscribe setting will not be affected by the options in the node form.
- The autosubscribe setting defines the default behaviour of the check boxes in the node/comment form UI. It should not suggest that the subscription behaviour operates independently of the check boxes on the form.
A few ideas for alternative bits of text to display:
'You are currenty set to receive notification messages for content which you create. To change this default, uncheck the autosubscribe option in your user account settings.'
'These boxes are checked for you because autosubscribe is enabled for your user account. To change this default, uncheck the autosubscribe option in your user account settings.'
'If you wish to change the default settings for these subscription options, uncheck the autosubscribe option in your user account settings.'
'Uncheck the autosubscribe option in your user account if you wish to change the default settings for these subscription options.'

jose reyero commentedYes, this makes sense.
So I fixed that line, copied and pasted part of your text - typo included :-)
(The typo, 'currenty' will be fixed in next commit)
Now it reads:
'You are currently set to receive notifications for replies to content which you create. To change this default, uncheck the autosubscribe option in your user account settings.'
Sounds good?
