Virginia Tech - One Year Later, a newspaper web site built on Drupal

Wednesday, April 16, 2008 marked the first year since the shootings at Virginia Tech. As details of the tragic event unfolded, readers turned to Roanoke.com for the latest news and updates from the Blacksburg campus. This year, the Roanoke Times/Roanoke.com staff captured the moments, big and small, that spanned the full 24 hours of April 16, 2008 on the special Web site, One Year Later. (http://blogs.roanoke.com/oneyearlater)

The site features moments captured by reporters, photographers, videographers and producers throughout the Roanoke and New River Valleys. These moments were chronicled in audio vignettes, video, photo galleries and stories. Contributors submitted stories, photos or comments to share their experience. Whether it’s a cookout with friends, a game of chess or a quiet moment of reflection, the One Year Later site is intended to provide a true-to-life glimpse into how people everywhere choose to remember a solemn day.

In the end, this "Day in the Life" project was a true team effort utilizing all of the resources available to cover a story that continues to affect this region, and the nation, every day.

This is our second vertical site built using drupal. Our first was Age of Uncertainty -- http://ageofuncertainty.roanoke.com.
