Can't enable "Upload" module after upgrade to v6.x

jvong - April 18, 2008 - 23:37

Hello Drupal Experts,

I just recently upgrade from v4.7.3 to v6.x. Here is my the upgrade path: from v4.7.3 --> 4.7.11 --> 5.0 --> 5.7 --> 6.0 --> 6.1 --> 6.2

The upgrade all went fine however, I notice that I can't enable the "Upload" module after I upgrade from 5.7 to v6.x. From v4.7.3 to 5.7 the I can enable the "Upload" module, but after I upgraded to v6.x I can't enable the "Upload" module at all. The "Upload" module was enabled before the upgrade. The little check box is all grayed out when I am in the Drupal administration page. Does anyone know how I may resolve this issue? I have included my server configuration below incase this helps.

Server Configuration:

Windows 2003 Server
IIS Web Server
MySQL 5.0.51a
PHP v5.2.5 (PHP Memory Limit: 32MB)

Thanks,

John

Have you installed the 6.2

zeta ζ - April 19, 2008 - 00:09

Have you installed the 6.2 version of upload (version should be listed in 3rd column on that page)? It is possible that the code didn’t over-write properly or completely.

Can't enable "Upload" module after upgrade to v6.x

jvong - April 19, 2008 - 05:50

Hi Zeta-Zoo,

I already installed the latest version of Drupal v6.2 and it is still the same, the "Upload" version is v6.2 as stated in the 3rd column on that page. The "Upload" module check box is still grayed out where I can't place a check mark on it to enable it. I have done the upgrade several times over and over again and it is all the same, where the "Upload" module check box is still grayed out where I can't place a check mark on it to enable it. The "Upload" module check box is there all the way when I upgraded from v4.7.3 to v5.7. But right after I upgraded from v5.7 to v6.0 (even from v6.0 to v6.1 and v6.2), that's when the "Upload" module check box is grayed out in the modules administration page. Here is my upgrade path: from v4.7.3 --> 4.7.11 --> 5.0 --> 5.7 --> 6.0 --> 6.1 --> 6.2

The upgrade all went fine however, I notice that I can't enable the "Upload" module after I upgrade from 5.7 to v6.x. From v4.7.3 to 5.7 I can enable the "Upload" module, but after I upgraded to v6.x I can't enable the "Upload" module at all.

Any other ideas that I may try?

Thanks,

upload file-system

I’m not aware that upload depends on any other module; the only thing I can think of is to check /admin/settings/file-system to make sure this is correct.

Thanks Zeta-Zoo, I checked

jvong - April 20, 2008 - 03:42

Thanks Zeta-Zoo, I checked but the setting "Public - files are available using HTTP directly" is the same as my previous version before v6.x which I can enable or disable the "Upload" module. Perhaps I will try another upgrade again..........If anyone have any other suggestions please let me know. I am willing to try......

And the two directories…

zeta ζ - April 20, 2008 - 03:51

they exist and are writable?

Hello Drupal Experts, I was

Hello Drupal Experts,

I was curious why this is happening where I can't enable the "Upload" module even with several attempts . Just for the heck of it, I decided to completely do a new installation of Drupal v6.2 (not an upgrade from my previous versions) and after the new installation was done, the "Upload" module is still grayed out where I can't place a check mark on the little square box. I even try re-downloading Drupal v6.2 installation and perform the installation, files and I still get the same results. Perhaps this might be a bug or so, anyhow, I just wanna post back and let someone know. Has anyone encounter this problem at all, if so, how did you resolve it?

Thanks,

i have this same problem,

prohtex - May 13, 2008 - 23:08

i have this same problem, upload is greyed out. any solutions?

I think I have the same

MorganL - June 11, 2008 - 22:11

I think I have the same problem here. Brand new install. For me, the checkbox is completely missing - not just grayed out.

What's going on?!

I concur... no checkbox for Upload

emjayess - June 18, 2008 - 15:48

On a local installation, I had upload capabilities working... and uploaded several logos while administering my theme... then, I don't know why or what I could have done, my upload field was gone. Checking around for the cause, I noticed admin/build/modules didn't even have a checkbox for the 'Upload' module.

file system settings and folders appear to be in good shape.

Can anyone shed light on this behavior?

do you have "upload" under "modules" directory?

chubako - June 25, 2008 - 20:25

Hi, check if you have the "upload" module under the "modules" directory in your install. If not, you can download drupal 6.2, and copy the "upload" module.

Yes, Upload is there

emjayess - July 10, 2008 - 18:02

the upload module is and was there in core the whole time. And like I said, it was installed and working fine, then some anomaly where my upload fields were gone and so was the checkbox (but not the table row) for upload on the module installer admin page... and later, it was back to normal again... I have no idea what I did to either lose upload functionality or to gain it back. It still mystifies me.

Edit/Update: Mine is a 6.2 fresh install, not an upgrade path.

Same problem

wdennen - October 21, 2008 - 17:16

I have been using Drupal 6.5... and uploads have been working. Very recently, uploads stopped working. WHen I look at the module list, I do not see a checkbox next to Upload module. Very weird. Any ideas?

** Edit: The problem seems to be with Camino web browser. The checkbox displays fine in Safari and Firefox (Mac).

** I've upgraded Camino from 1.5.4 to 1.6.4, and all is well.

Yes, same problem

arihant - October 24, 2008 - 14:40

I did a fresh install for drupal 6.6 & installed the module image assist. Was able to install it successfully. When I tried to enable it from admin panel I could find the enable check box is grayed out. Till now I am not able to figure out any reason for the same. May be some kind of bug.

If any one finds a solution please post.

Maybe check permissions

russgri - October 26, 2008 - 04:39

sometimes folders may not be set ...
Some servers are running as cgi ...phpsuexec
requires permission folders 755 and files 644
give that a try or check permissions against another module that works...
