Help - How to display Primary links horizontally not vertically? D5.x Bluemarine

allanx - April 19, 2008 - 09:06

Hey fellow drupalers,

I'm developing a website using Drupal 5 - with a modified Bluemarine theme.

I want to display Primary links across the header horizontally rather than vertically... It should be a CSS issue, but after days of tweaking I just can't figure it out.

Any suggestions? I have scoured the forums, and there's plenty of discussion about this but I can't see how to do this.

Thanks
al

If you're using Firefox browser try the Firebug extension to pinpoint where single elements come from. You can even "edit" them online, see how your changes will look like and only when your satisfied with the results actually make them.

Hey thanks for the advice. But I just cannot seem to figure this out using Firebug or Web Developer in FF. Got me stuffed!

tutorial on css lists

I chose the Garland theme to get the horizontal navigation. You can now choose colors to individualize it. You can add blocks to the header, footer, sidebars, or content for anything else you want to customize.

I did discover one problem recently. In IE the secondary links scroll down the right side instead of horizontally. I suspect it requires a line in the ie-fix.css; and I will be asking the Drupal theme pros about that today.

If you still prefer to design your own theme, look at the garland.css and ie-fix.css for examples of the horizontal navigation. Search the files for all mention of 'secondary' and 'primary'. To better understand what is happening, there is a good tutorial on using css to style your ul lists at http://alistapart.com/articles/taminglists.

I have solved the problem using Nice Menus! NM is my Primary Links. Using a dropdown menu. Seems to work fine... thanks al
