I have created a patch to enable a switch to plain text.
Some things need to be worked on:
* Translation of Javascript text with t()
* Would be neat to theme the Switch button

Feedback and testing would be much appreciated.

This has been added to the 6.x codebase and is being added to the 5.x codebase as I type this. Thanks for the help.
