This patch changes the "X new" in the forum index from being the number of new nodes to just "new" signifying new comments in this forum. It seemed to be much more useful for tracking forum discussions this way, as instead of just knowing about new topics you can see any activity in the forums at all.

I don't understand why this is better? I'd think it is a small step backward.

I didn't really figure you'd go for it, but pretty much every user on my site considered it more useful this way, so I did it.
