Would it be possible to modify this to work with Mediawiki articles? I need to import a lot of articles from my old Mediawiki site in a similiar way to this module.

This doesn't really fall under the scope of TWikifilter. This module will pretty much just be for TWiki formatting.

However there is already a module that offers other wiki input filters - Pear Wiki Filter. Or that module even recommends another module that seems to have MediaWiki filter as its base, but lets you modify it without having to code - Flexifilter.

No problem, I appreciate you getting back to me. Just trying to figure the best way to convert my old mediawiki site over to drupal. I tried flexifilter, but it did not seem to work out as I had hoped. I will tinker with it some more. Thank ya.
