hi. i am a rookie drupaller. since last week i am trying to learn drupal. i've read many articles on this site. but i couldn't understand how to modify content area.
i want to divide content area. last story as headline and the others as normal links. and some other content. something like this: http://quommunication.com/demo/news/ .
i've read almost all articles on newspaper groups (new york observer vs.) but i couldn't understand it. i've installed too many components but i can't manage them. can somebody help me.
1- which components i need?
2- how can i use them
3- or is there any articles which i've to read
note: i thougt Drupal Markup Engine is the right solution for my problem but i couldn't managed it and found no articles about this component. maybe somebody knows how tu use it
(sorry for bad english, i was in germany from years until two months ago, i've forgot to speak english :) )

use "regions" as a search term and you will find a plethora of information on this type of topic.
I can't give any specifics, because you've neglected to either mention the version of Drupal in use or tag your thread appropriatley with the version in use.

If you ask nicely I'll give you a towel : )
If you are using Drupal 5
If you are using Drupal 5 the panels 2 module can be used to divide up the content area. The views module is useful for producing lists (can be a list of 1) of content in a variety of ways. You can find them both in the modules download area. Documentation for panels 2 can be found at http://drupal.org/node/201914, documentation for views at http://drupal.org/handbook/modules/views
