Poison Gas - personal art thing site

Finally I've finished the essential building of my site which shows some of the art work (videos, illustration, sculpture, audio) that I've been doing for the last 13 years.
Last night I finally was able to use the excellent site performance features that 6 offers :

Page Cache/Caching mode: normal
Minimum cache lifetime: 1 day
Page compression: enabled

Block cache: enabled

Bandwidth optimizations/Optimize CSS files: enabled
/Optimize JavaScript files: enabled

I then emptied my internat cache & browsed the site & then went to another computer with an empty browser cache & was amazed to see that the site & all it's content
would load extremely fast. I'm totally amazed by how good the caching in drupal is.

For the site I used the bluecurve theme & modified it to suit my site (I'm not good enough to create a theme from scratch at the mo')
I used these modules :
Lightbox2
Clone Module
Node Type
Poormanscron
Submit Again
Activemenu
Javascript tools
External Links

As this site won't have any users I didn't need too much & the modules for the most part are helpers to administrating/building.

I gave up on any image module & video module & decided to enter everything by hand
(galleries/images all use Lightbox2)

It took a while to get everything in place as I was working on a 5.7 site at the same time & all along, learning & discovering both versions of drupal.
There is still a lot more content to add, but the man work is now complete.
Phew !
Maybe I can start getting back to creating 'art' as I've lost inspiration over the last 12 months & can't seem to complete anything.
Hopefully this 'completion' will be the kick up the proverbial backside, because after all the effort it'd be a shame to just leave it as a static 'portfolio'.
Next step is to try to get some sort of traffic.

The Drupal forums have been very useful to me as well as the documentation.
I still haven't the slightest idea about things like Taxonomy & a million other things that many Drupal people find essential.
Hopefully I'll explore those as time rolls by.
But for now, the essential aim has been achieved (I hope) - to get a nice looking site up & functioning.

So cheers to all the Drupal people for all the work on the Drupal project as doing all this another way would have been tedious & probably boring.
