HTMLarea: why soft return becomes hard return after copy & paste?

I am using Htmlarea module, very nice.
However, after copy and paste, soft returns become hard returns.
For example, if I copy and paste
Fisheries Ecosystems Restoration Research (FERR) . Tony Pitcher and his research group focus on modelling and evaluation in support of policy goals that reconcile the preservation of biodiversity and services with sustainable and responsible fisheries. The group pioneers new techniques in restoration
When I view the source code in HTMLarea's WYSIWYG editor (switching to source code view), it is okay.
However, after submitting it, and view the source code through browsers, it becomes:

and evaluation in support of policy goals that reconcile the preservation of biodiversity and services with <br/>
sustainable and responsible fisheries. The group pioneers new techniques in restoration<br/>Any idea why? How to fix?
