I've searched for a day for this and can't find a previous thread that maps to what I am looking for; if there is an existing thread and I've just been a moron in my search terms, please let me know.
I am looking for an ability to have a user create an account on drupal as a 'micro-administrator' for his/her group, with the ability to create a profile for their company and then add additional accounts that are grouped with the company.
Other users would be able to search for details in the company profile and some of the aggregate user profile information in the group users would be summed up in the company profile (for example, the number of users in the group/company with a particular technical certification).
Some features would be, based on the group/company, restricted, like an internal news blog or project management and other features, like forum, would be broadly available.
Anyone done anything like this? The goal is to create a site that allows companies to find other companies based on the skills or other criteria that the company advertises. The eventual goal would be for them to collaborate on a project (such as an implementation of technology at a client).
Thanks

err... not quite
Others can step in, but look at Organic Groups. It has some of the elements you are describing.
http://groups.drupal.org for one such implementation.
