When using the editor to edit a page of link references. At first I had set them all to open in a new window using the "edit link" interface. I have since decided that I want internal page links such as "/node/64" to open in the same window. When I go to the edit link interface and make the changes and hit the "apply button" The new command to "open link in the same window" does not apply or go into effect. It makes no changes to the source code at all. It doesn't matter whether I try to use the "top window" , or "parent window" options either. The only command that happens is to open a "new window." I have tried switching the input from full http to php, etc.... and none of that works either.
