I am using PHP version 5.2.5

should this work?

Strange you should get that message, the module is definitely compatible with PHP5 as that's actually what I wrote it on ;-)

If necessary, take the php = "4.7" part out of image_caption.info
though that should define the minimum PHP version, not the maximum.
