hello, what's your opinion about the advantages / drawbacks of using a flash based solution compared to a javascript (jQuery) based solution to display a slideshow / carousel ?

There are no specials advantages/drawbacks between flash or javascript.
Both make it well. The best solution to have an answer would be to compare performances.

Some years before, i had said javascript, because flash wasn't so present, but now, navigators and also mobiles can read flash (but not javascript for mobiles if I'm not false).

So i think it's more about taste and colors.
