Hi,
I've installed MimeDetect module in a vps hosting with plesk. Before the installation I verified the installation of /usr/bin/file on the vps.
The status report of Drupal shows the following message:
"MimeDetect is using the browser supplied mime type or file extension lookups. It is strongly recommended that you install and configure the PHP FileInfo Extension or the UNIX 'file' command to provide more accurate severside mime type detection."
Mime Detect Settings shows as well the next message:
"warning: is_executable() [function.is-executable]: open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/usr/bin/file) is not within the allowed path(s): (/var/www/vhosts/feteugtandalucia.org/httpdocs:/tmp) in /var/www/vhosts/feteugtandalucia.org/httpdocs/modules/mimedetect/mimedetect.module on line 87.
warning: file_exists() [function.file-exists]: open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/usr/bin/file) is not within the allowed path(s): (/var/www/vhosts/feteugtandalucia.org/httpdocs:/tmp) in /var/www/vhosts/feteugtandalucia.org/httpdocs/modules/mimedetect/mimedetect.module on line 88.
The path /usr/bin/file does not exist or is not readable by your webserver."
Any help, please?

dopry commentedDisable support for detecting mime with the unix file command or change your open_base dir restrictions. I'll aww if I can prevent that from throwing an error.
