Not sure if this is necessary.

On "admin/settings/language/configure/l10n_client" page, simply leaving the input field empty and clicking "Save configuration" button results an "Invalid localization server address specified..." error message.

Currently the only way I found to do this is clicking the "Reset to defaults" button on the same page.

Since there is a way to do it, maybe we should make it clearer and easier to use.

Just added a checkbox to be able to turn this feature on. That also allows you to keep the URL setting for the server interface, if you temporarily disable sharing.
