I am planning to host a drupal based website with around 15-20 sub-domains, I am looking in to "HostMonster" for hosting services. Is there any better choice available ?

Umm what kind of sites are they going to be? Are they all going to dynamic sites or what?
Remember don't just look at Space and Bandwidth. Look for good track records at Web Hosting Talk as there you will get the most real reviews instead of just bought top spots.
Also if they are 15-20 different drupal sites you may want to even look into a VPS or Dedicated if they get decent amounts of traffic.

HostMonster Should be a Good Choice
As I know, HostMonster is a great choice for Drupal Hosting, especially for a beginner. Test their performance at http://www.hostingtag.com, this is my site, but still need to find a time to make it better because CCK and View modules for Drupal 6.0 haven't been release at that time. I might work on it recently due the situation changes.

I will give a small example, but it may not be a good example :-)
If there is a website called "www.company.com", we can create sub domains for various departments in side a company like "www.dept1.company.com" , "www.dept2.company.com", so that each department has its own webpage and content. And creating subdomains do not cost anything on most of the host providers.
