This module is something that should be seriously considered to be a part of the core. Maybe just to polish it a bit and that would be it.

It would also be nice to have download count feature for this module. Another one would be integrating 5-star into it (or any other voting mechanism), so we can sort files by downloads, popularity, etc.

Subscribing. Need download count, or way to hook into the "download count" module. Perhaps with db_rewrite_sql (hook_db_rewrite_sql) to make the download count module see your table?
