When I update block placement or configuration, the blocks often don't update immediately.

I have no cache setting on my drupal site.
I have cleared the cache on my browser before clicking submit.

Still no joy.

Sometimes, the blocks that are already set will change position or weight.
Sometimes a different block than the one I wanted to activate will become active in a postion.

I can't determine a pattern, I just know that it often takes me 5 or 6o tries before I can get all the blocks in the right place.

Do I have a setting wrong someplace? A cron setting I need to change? Am I holding my mouth wrong?

Please help!

HI all,

Still having a major problem with blocks. They seem to have a mind of their own! I click activate one and put it in the right column and the one above it ends up in the left column! Or I try to configure one to have a particular heading and two others change themselves from header to content! I don't know what I'm doing wrong! I've tried using both Firefox and IE and tried clearing cache on the browsers, because I don't know what else to do. Am I right to suspect something to do with the CRON which I know nothing about? I use 1and1 hosting. Could they have anything to do with it?

Any other suggestions? hints? Please help. this is getting very frustrating.

Connie - I don't have any specific suggestions, but wanted to let you know that people are reading your messages. Don't see how CRON has anything to do with your problem.

I know that in Drupal 6, the blocks within a region tend to move about a bit.

Beyond the obvious of saving your blocks after each edit/config, it might help if you listed your environment - hosted/local, blocks (modules), themes that you are trying to edit, etc.

Thanks, Kayaker for the comments.

I am using Drupal 5.7, although I had the same problem with Drupal 5.3. I've got four sites. One uses minelli, two roople themes, Tapestry and Jazz and another theme called Aberdeen Liquid.

The problem happens whether I am administering in Foxfire or IE.

I have two different hosts, 1and1 and HostExcellence.

I have lots of blocks, including some that I made myself that has only text in them.

In php.ini, I increased max_execution_time=50000

No problems since then.

I created this php.ini file and uploaded it to the root director of Drupal 5.18 and now I can move my blocks to different regions again. Thanks for posting the solution!
