I installed Asset 5.x-1.0-beta2 today on a test site and the result was all of the buttons in the Asset UI ceasing to function - they now lead to a blank white page in the popup.
Since I was upgrading from beta1, I then tried completely removing the module and installing it from scratch with no change in the results. Anyhow just wanted to let you know.

The site is running on MAMP 1.7.1 on OS X, PHP 5... a clean install of Drupal 5.7 and no contrib modules installed (there were a few like CCK and Views, but I fully uninstalled everything to test).

You are right. A missing function cause the beta2 asset wizard to break. I just now released beta3 to fix this. Thanks for reporting so quickly!
