On my site I have Locale and Content Translation installed (for multi-language) and activated. I have German translation activated on my site, but currently no translations are available. I downloaded views and upon installation I got the following error message after what seemed like a timeout:
Importing interface translations
Error importing interface translations
Please continue to the error page
An HTTP error 403 occurred. /de/batch?id=1&op=do
I assume that this is not the correct/desired behavior and a more specific error message informing the user of the missing translation would be more appropriate.
I will now have to check whether the module works correctly in spite of this error.

merlinofchaos commentedIt may be that the German translation is not quite suitable for use -- because Views was under such heavy development recently, all the old translations are useless and translators have not yet been given a go-ahead to go ahead and start translating, since I don't want them to have to undo/redo a whole bunch of their work.
That said, hass (who did the German translation we currently have) might be able to speak more about this if he sees the issue.

merlinofchaos commentedThere's not much I can do here; Views doesn't control the error messages, and I don't do the translations.
