I have just launched my first site using Drupal and have done the standard business of getting an XML sitemap and submitting in to Google. I now have my first batch of Google webmasters data and things look a little strange.
1. I am getting a lot of 404 errors for pages that don't exist - Google is trying non-existent categories. I.e. where I have previously used a category (vocabulary) but have subsequently deleted it during testing.
2. This is an extension to the above but applies to both existing and non-existent categories. It seems as though Google is trying to find an index.html at the root of every category i.e. vocabulary/index.html. These index files don't exist, instead I have listings and nodes applied to the path i.e. /vocabulary uses a node as the place holder.
Is there something I am doing wrong to get all of these errors?
Any pointers would be greatly received.
