I have a standard drupal installation.

When I try to view my AWstats on my domain emodo.com I get this error page:

http://emodo.com/cgi-bin/awstats.pl

Error:
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /cgi-bin/awstats.pl on this server.

I asked my hosting why I was getting this error and they said:

It appears the .htaccess in your web site's directory restricts .pl files from running.

Why is drupal forbiddening .pl files from running? Can I turn this off?
