Assigning roles based on catergories

I am trying to have the user sign up for a site and choose a membership that I created in categories. I have payment attached to categories using paypal. I want to link the selection of the categories to the matching role to the site. I am not sure how to do this. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks for the reply but a very new at drupal. How do I link the what the user chooses at registration process to the roles that have been created??

I've only used a couple of those modules. What would probably be best is to use a localhost test server (WAMP, XAMPP, or MAMP) and play with different configurations until you get what you need.
