Views member page formatting

I am working on a members page that will show information drawn from the profile (as nodes) for each of my users. The following link is a simple diagram of what I am hoping I can reach as an end goal (http://zukes.net/views_goal.png). However, I not sure how to best do this right now. I have been researching themeing, and views but I just cant figure out where to start. I am using drupal 6.x btw.

So what would be the best way to approach this? Using the unformatted theme for the view, then creating it my self? If so, how do I go about formatting the unformatted theme?
