WebDAV

Is the DAV for Drupal project still being addressed for version 5.x and the new 6.x releases? I took a look at the http://drupal.org/project/dav site and it seems to have been last updated 10/2007.

From reading the documentation, I can understand the need for the PHP/Pear modules on the Drupal web server site, but the documentation doesn't state if I also need to install PHP/Pear also on the multimedia web server side as well. Since the multimedia server will be just a storage location for the data files, I am wondering if it needs to have the PEAR HTTP_WebDAV_Server and HTTP_WebDAV_Client packages installed?

The reason I am asking is that our multimedia server environment currently does not have PHP installed, just Apache with the mod_dav module enabled.
