i had everything going so perfect then i tried to make a completely separate panel page for displaying a completely separate content type and somehow panels got the the userprofile panel and the new panel all mixed up. i've since deleted that panel.
so i had to re-add my contexts, now i have a duplicated 'edit' tab that goes to create content with a url thats the same as the user account edit page, with a -0 at the end. may be an issue for panels but i'm not sure if you've run into this before i post there. i've submitted the screenshots. let me know if anything looks unusual here. basically i just re-added the contexts, which i hadn't changed much, if at all (but i don't remember).

Fixed the extra tabs issue by going to Advanced profile settings page at admin/settings/advanced-profile and unchecking any and every 'type' you've selected to add tabs for. Save, then recheck them and your tabs are back to normal.
As to why one panel page screwed up another panel page, i don't know. until this is resolved in Panels itself, I would have to advise against working on two panel pages in in separate browser tabs.
