What I wanted to do was have forums that matched the FAQ categories (so that experts could discuss the questions before someone gives an answer). Then I realized that the forum uses a vocabulary, with the names of the forums as the categories in that vocabulary.

"Brilliant" I thought... "I'll just enable the Forum category for FAQ content-types as well - this will save me from having to make a new category every time someone suggests a new one". This seems to work fine... Except that now, users can no longer suggest categories.

Is there a way to allow this to work for the Forum vocabulary? I ask because this seems to fit all my needs... if only it worked.

I assume that you are getting some kind of error doing this? Please tell me more. I need to fix this because I am planning a site that will do something very similar. I don't use forums much, so I may need you to explain your forum structure so I can set up a test environment.

Hi NancyDru, I didn't see this comment till now.
No, I wasn't getting an error I don't think... it's just that forums don't seem to work that way presently... they have to be made in the admin interface (or so I think?). If I remember right, the users just didn't have any option to add new categories and that's all.
But hey - if this can get working somehow, that would be stellar!

It looks to me like it works - if you go through Faq_Ask, rather than "create content." I'm still testing this

I've looked at this several times, and so far it doesn't work right. I'm not that familiar with Forums, so maybe it is interfering somehow. I haven't forgotten this issue.
