I use PM 5.x-2.x-dev, and I got this error.

I have the same problem running UR 5.x-2.x w/ PM 5.x-3.0

Appears to be similar to this: http://drupal.org/node/170519

But that issue had a committed fix that does not seem to be carrying over to the UR integration.

I'm closing old issues since Privatemsg for Drupal 5 is not maintained anymore. I suggest you switch to Drupal 6 if possible, many of the reported issues are probably already resolved there and if not, you're welcome to open a new issue.
