Hello there,
I have the core search module enabled, and recently added the google cse module.
So i am wondering if there is way to make google custom search be used as the default search engine. What i mean by default search engine is the engine used by the search box bundled with the theme, I don't want to mess up with theming, and i want to keep the core search module as it is used by the search 404 module which proved very useful for me.
So is there some code to do it? If so, please share it,
thanks in advance.

In public_html/theme/[yourtheme]/page.tpl.php you should see something like "
print $search_box". Simply replace this with the code from Google (http://www.google.com/coop/cse/). Now instead of searching through Drupal, you will be using Google to search your site... and the search module is still enabled and will be used by Search 404.Editing your theme (which is easy) is probably the only way to do it. I haven't used the Google CSE module, if it's entire purpose is to integrate Google search, then there is probably just a switch to flick in your Admin area. Also try asking in the modules support queue.
