The default search form only has one textfiled, how to extend other form elements and pass extension form element value to search.module?

Myself new to this drupal.How to customize drupal search module.I have tried but ,it's of no use.So,I have developed my own search module for searching my site and getting the data from database.But its taking a lot of time nearly 15min.I want to know about drupal search module.And i want to use it.Can plz help me.
